Today I got weighed in a day earlier because I'm leaving to go out-of-town for a wedding later this week. Since my day and time changed I could not get in to see my usual consultant. Instead, I was going to see the Centre Director which had me a little more nervous. She is extremely wonderful but she is more rigid to the guidelines and philosophy of the Jenny Craig program. Since this past week was my birthday and I splurged on Indian and an angel food/berry cake I didn't like the idea of getting on the scale and possibly showing that I'd gained.
But, it turns out I didn't need to be worried. She was supportive and told me that I need to splurge every once in awhile without feeling guilty. I actually lost a pound this week; which helped make the experience even more positive! The Director didn't want to go over the "in's and outs" of the program because she said she was confident I had a good grasp on everything. But, she did want me to leave with at least learning something new from our consultation. Somehow we got on the topic of my husband and me hiking this weekend. She told me I needed to increase my vegetable intake, add an apple for additional fiber (which would also help fill me up), and even add a low sugar/high protein energy bar! I told her I had noticed when we go on intense hikes or I do a lot of manual labor on the farm that I quickly become shaky and starving. So, now, when I burn a lot of calories I'm definitely going to follow her suggestion. It's never good for your blood sugar to get too low because you can become dizzy and even pass out. Your body is also more likely to store the food you have had as fat because your body doesn't know when it's going to eat again.
I realized that as much as I love my consultant it's beneficial to occasionally see someone new because everyone at the Centre has something to add that I can learn from.
